Reports, Spreadsheets, and Road Maps

If you're asked to put together a report or a spreadsheet that's a one- or two-page document, make sure to include some basic road maps to help your reader.

1. Always include a title.
2. Always include a footer with the date, page number, and date created or revised.
3. If you have a graph or a chart, make sure to label all axes.
4. If you use abbreviations or colors, make sure to have a key.
5. Be consistent with the centering and formatting.
6. Organize your material so that it's easily understandable for a reader.
7. Proofread it before sharing it.
