Journals

If you don't already keep a journal, you should start one. Write down thoughts, dreams, ideas, and your history. It's a great way to get ideas for writing. I like reading old entries. I think it's interesting to see what I thought was important ten or twenty years ago. It's a great memory jogger for things that I haven't thought about in years.

If you're too busy to journal, take Brad Paisley's advice in "Letter to Me." What would you tell yourself if you wrote a letter to the teen you? What would you like to say to the future you?
