The Eyes Have it...

When you're designing something with pictures, look carefully at their placement.

If your pictures contain faces (human, animal, cartoon, etc.), make sure the eyes are looking toward your text (on your page). Too many times, folks place photos so that the subject in the picture is looking off the page. Humans look at the pictures first when they glance at your document. They are naturally drawn to what the subject in the picture is viewing.

Use photos to guide your readers to your content (not away from the page).

Some folks use photo software to flip or rotate images so that the subject is facing another direction. Be careful with flipping. I've seen some photos where there were logos or lettering in the photo, and it was reversed because of the flip.

Use the same idea with lines and graphics. Make sure that they highlight your work.
