Discussion Forums
I'm getting ready to try something at new at work. I'm going to pilot a discussion forum for feedback on documents and testing events. We've tried forums or discussions before, and they haven't caught on. If you love them (or hate them), let me know. I'd like to hear how some other folks are using technology to make work easier or to improve efficiencies. Thanks!

For me, I would say the best way is what I'm going to try using the new Flare 4. You can send out one topic for review. The recipients need not have Flare to make comments or edit the copy you send to them. They need X-Edit, which they can download free from MadCap. Forums can be great places, but they tend to be somewhat freewheeling. I need specific comments from specific people in a certain amount of time. If I have to, I print out the user guide, place it in their inbox with a red pen, and tell them I will pick it up in one week. I tell them any late input will be disregarded. That usually lights enough of a fire under them to get results. A forum seems like a cool idea, but I need to give my SMEs something concrete to focus on.
