We've recently started a QA area in our department. Here are some of the things we've done recently...

• Provided Quality Control for all software projects.
• Helped teams with QA initiatives (improving processes, efficiencies, documentation, etc.)
• Partnered with the documentation specialists and provided them with bug and usability issues that crop up in testing and user acceptance testing.
• Provided testing for hardware and vendor software installations. (We even provided QA assistance for a construction project.)
• Wrote test plans for our business staff to use for user acceptance testing.
• Provided internal audits for other areas in our departments (such as project phase gate reviews).
• Provided feedback on handouts/documents and special presentations.
