This Week's Reasons to Proofread

Happy Friday (even though it's raining here)! Here are some typos/grammar issues that I've seen recently...

1. There is a banner outside a storefront church on Hull Street that advertises, "Morining Worship at 11 AM."

2. In The Colonel and Little Missy by Larry McCurtry, I found "Each would have naturally used whatever topographical advantage they could find." (It's a fun book about Buffalo Bill Cody and Annie Oakley. I didn't know they had a huge train wreck in Danville, Virginia in the early 1900s.)

3. On a form I received this week, they asked for the "vender's name." This is one instance where I always use the British "vendor" instead of the American one. I did some checks on grammar/usage sites, and they all preferred "-or." Any thoughts on this one?

4.  A stadium sign in Leathernecks read, "Players Entrance."

5. I received another form this week that had fields for "Contact Name," "Contact Address," etc. It also had instructions. "Contact" was used correctly in the field labels. The instructions were another story. It was full of "Enter the Contacts First Name." "Enter the Contacts Middle Initial."

Keep proofreading! Enjoy your weekend!
