Changes...Changes...
A lot has changed over the past couple of years. Many of my favorite restaurants and stores have shuttered their doors. One of Richmond's long-time grocery stores was sold. They have been part of the Richmond fabric for years. The new owners were changing some of the signs last week, and I had a moment of nostalgia.
We are all being asked to do more with less. How has your job changed over the last few years?
Our technical writers have been asked to provide more training guides. They have even been asked to conduct some of the training sessions.
Some of our vendors are no longer providing documentation like they have in the past, and we've been asked to step in and create it or quick reference guides.
Our writers are also getting more involved with creating other types of documentation (basic business requirements, business cases, and research for business solutions).

I don't believe we are being "asked" to do more with less. It is now a necessity. We have more to do than ever, but we must do it with fewer resources. We either don't have them, can't get them, or they aren't available. We are being "required" to do more with less. Just my two cents.
