It's Nice to Hear Good News for a Change
We have been saturated with bad news and disappointing stories lately. It was nice to read Bill Lohmann's column in today's Richmond Times-Dispatch. It was heart-warming to see the kindness and generosity of the Metro Richmond community.
A Florida woman, Paige Hakimian and some of her children, were in a terrible car crash on I-95 in Richmond on Mother's Day. They were traveling through Richmond on their way back to Florida. He interviewed Mrs. Hakimian, who had wonderfully kind things to say about those who helped her and her family. The list went on an on...the tow truck drivers who picked up their belongings that were strewn all over the highway, the helicopter pilot who flew her to the hospital who wouldn't leave her side because she had no one to sit with her, the state troopers, everyone at the hospital, the hotel staff who looked after the rest of her family while she was recuperating...The list is long.
I know that most of these people would just say that they're doing their job. But they did more than "just their job." They cared. It was inspiring, and I'm proud of the people of my community. These folks made a difference.
Thanks, Bill for writing this column, and I wish Mrs. Hakimian and her family they best as they recover!
