Mark Mills' Thrillers/Mysteries
I recently read Mark Mills' Amagansett, set on Long Island shortly after WWII. This is his first mystery. (I read The Savage Garden, his second novel, first.)
From Amagansett, I was convinced that he was an American. (He isn't.) He has this uncanny ability to capture dialect and slang in such a convincing manner. When I read The Savage Garden, I was convinced that he was British. (He is.) He has a talent for dialect with a variety of characters from all socio-economic groups.
His first two mysteries are set in a post-WWII era, and he weaves great mysteries. I'm looking forward to reading his third novel, The Information Officer.
