I noticed in my update from History.com that today marks the beginning of the Elizabethan era in 1558. I was thinking about the modern Royals today after the engagement news.

It's nice to hear that the bride-to-be is a Commoner. (Americans always like that. It's every little girls' dream to be a real  princess.) It's interesting that Kate Middleton has George Washington in her family tree.

I'm dating myself, but I remember getting up early back in the 80s to see Prince Charles and Lady Diana's wedding live on television. I'm sure this wedding will be spectacular too.
