One of my guilty pleasures is reading every Nicholas Sparks work. He is the master of the tear-jerker. I an enamored that he sets his novels in coastal North Carolina, one of my favorite places on earth.

Safe Haven is a wonderful quest story of escape, hope, and redemption. Sparks is an incredible story teller who draws his readers in and makes it hard to put the book or ereader down.

This novel is set near the intracoastal waterway outside of Wilmington, NC. A young woman, a new comer to town, reluctantly makes friends and finds her place in this small town. She and her friends share buried secrets from their pasts. It's got romance, suspense, and some chilling scenes with danger, mystery, and mystique.

My one gripe with Sparks is that in his earlier novels, he killed off characters that I liked or cared about. This novel has its own twists and turns. I enjoyed the justice, redemption, and hope in Safe Haven.
