THE BRASS VERDICT - Michael Connelly

I'm still on my Michael Connelly book kick this summer. This time, I finished The Brass Verdict. It's another Mickey Haller (the Lincoln Lawyer) and Harry Bosch mystery.

In this one, Haller comes back from rehab and inherits a fellow lawyer's practice when his friend is murdered in the parking garage of his office building. Haller gets a bunch of smaller cases and one that's going to be a cash cow. His client is a movie studio executive who is accused of murdering his wife and their decorator.

The case if full of twists and turns, and the half-brothers are two sides of a coin. One is a defense attorney (like their father), and the other is a straight-laced police detective. I like how Connelly juxtaposes the brothers with their strengths and foibles.

I learned what a brass verdict was. I don't want to spoil the ending, so read the book. It's great for a day at the pool or a trip to the beach.
