Michael Connelly's THE FIFTH WITNESS

This is my last stop on the Michael Connelly tour this summer. It's The Fifth Witness, another Mickey Haller novel.

It's the height of the current recession, and Haller's law firm is working foreclosures. One of his clients has become an activist for those who have been mistreated by the banking industry. The story gets interesting when the bank executive in charge of her foreclosure is found dead in the parking garage, and Haller's star client becomes an accused murderer.

The investigation and the trial are a little slow, but the last chapter makes it worth sticking around for the end. Connelly is good with the plot twists and turns. He also hints at what's next for Mickey Haller.

The Fifth Witness is a good summer read. Put it in the beach or pool bag.
