Random Thoughts (between an Earthquake and Irene)

We were doing a lot of shakin' here in River City this week. And now, we're preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Irene. I got batteries and lots of canned goods (and cookies), and I'm charging all the cell phones. I even remembered to bring in all the stuff on the deck that will blow around.

Here are some random items that I encountered between the earthquake and hurricane...

  • Banned Book Week is coming in September.
  • First, there was an "I hate reading" page on Facebook (How sad!). Now, there's an "I hate the I hate reading" page.
  • I found Richard Gallagher's Great Customer Connections: Simple Psychological Techniques That Guarantee Exceptional Service. It's a great text for anyone who has to deal with people.
  • I also found Paul Falcone's 2600 Phrases for Effective Performance Reviews. What a time-saver for reviews and recommendations!
  • The Mindset List came out recently about this year's freshman class. I can't wait to read the book. This year's class has always had the Internet. LBJ means LeBron James. Ferris Bueller could be their father. Okay, I'm going to stop. I feel like a dinosaur.

Be safe!  If you're on the East Coast, batten down the hatches for Irene. Hopefully, she'll lose some steam before she gets up the coast.
