Michael Connelly's THE DROP
Michael Connelly's The Drop is a page-turner. I had trouble putting it down. This novel features his character, Harry Bosch. It seems Harry's time as an LA detective is limited by mandatory time-served policies. And he struggles with what to do next with his mandatory retirement date looming.
Harry and his partner, David Chu, land a cold case from a homicide 20 years ago. The DNA results came back, and the match is to a sex offender. The problem arises with his age. He would have been eight at the time of the murder. While investigating the anomalies of this case, a local councilman's son ends up dead at a swanky hotel, and Bosch is requested as the lead investigator. The councilman, a former cop, has been at odds with the police and Bosch in the past.
The fast-paced novel takes a lot of twists and turns through both of the cases with a little romance thrown in for the detective.
Connelly's thrillers are worth reading. I became a fan with The Lincoln Lawyer, but I like the Harry Bosch series just as well. Happy reading!
